Projects
My projects span research and practice, from investigating the psychophysiological effects of movement, exercise, meditation, and breathing to developing evidence-based programs for real-world settings. The overarching goal is to translate scientific knowledge into practical approaches that support health and well-being.

01
Yoga, Aerobic Exercise & Smoking Craving
2020–2021
This project examined the differential effects of yoga and aerobic exercise on smoking craving and explored their underlying neural mechanisms using event-related potentials (ERP). The study aimed to better understand how exercise and mind–body practices influence craving and self-regulation.
Funding: National Research Foundation of Korea
02
Body–Mind–Brain Integrated Exercise for Retirees
2022–2023
This long-term project develops and evaluates an integrated Body–Mind–Brain exercise program designed to support physical, emotional, and cognitive health after retirement. The project seeks to translate exercise and mind–body approaches into an integrated health-support model for healthy aging and well-being.
Funding: National Research Foundation of Korea

03
Exercise, Depression & Cognition in Smokers
2023–2026
This project investigates whether acute exercise produces different cognitive responses depending on the level of depressive symptoms among smokers, with a focus on individual differences in the cognitive benefits of exercise.
Funding: Dongguk University
04
Movement Meditation & Self-Regulation
2023–2026
This project investigates how movement-based meditation influences emotional and autonomic regulation. It focuses on identifying the psychophysiological characteristics of movement meditation and how they may differ from those of conventional static meditation.
Funding: Dongguk University

05
Geumho–WISE Community Health & Wellness Project
2025–Present
A community-based health promotion project designed to support physical and emotional well-being and healthy aging through sport and exercise science. The program integrates physical function assessment, tailored exercise, physical activity, nutrition, breathing, and meditation, translating academic expertise into practical approaches for community health.
Funding: Gyeongsangbuk-do & Yeongcheon
06
Sparkling Body–Mind Yoga Playground
2025–Present
A school-based care and education program combining playful movement, yoga, breathing, and mindfulness to support children's physical and emotional well-being. The project includes both program development and instructor training for community implementation.
Funding: Gyeongbuk RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education)

07
Seonmudo Movement Meditation: Psychophysiological Effects and Mechanisms
2026–Present
Seonmudo is a mind–body practice rooted in the long-standing contemplative traditions of Korean Buddhism. This project investigates its effects and underlying mechanisms using multimodal physiological measures, alongside participants’ practice experiences, with the aim of advancing its scientific understanding and exploring its potential as a contemporary wellness intervention.
